First, I'll note that these were purchased for a 5 yr old. I wouldn't recommend these for kids older than that given the size (mostly) and durability. The shield designs are neat and the sword designs are interesting, but do not really lend themselves to "sword fighting" in a practical sense, even by 5 yr olds, as the swords are quite bendable. Perhaps that may be what parents are looking for, in that they're super safe, but this also makes them bendable, particularly at the tip, if you have kid
